    3. Donna, Hi! This may be a long shot, but my great grandmother was Mary Haley Dryer. Her cousin, Elizabeth "Betty" Margaret Haley married Wade Hampton Cherry. I know that these families stayed close and often lived near each other and visited back and forth. Mary and her family lived just across the border in Jasper County, MO until 1917-1919 when they moved to Commerce, OK. Mary's husband Jake was a miner and I know many of her family also became miners (even for short periods) after he joined the family. I have not tried to follow the Cherry children and only know them by nicknames (the information came from a letter). Their children were: Thule, George, James, Jackson, Nina, Molly, Nell, Grover Cleveland, and Jiles. Let me know if you make a connection. 3. Donna, Sometime ago, I was researching the name CHERRY of this area in hopes of finding an elusive great grandmother. She is still in hiding. LOL A CHERRY had married into my KILPATRICK line. A very kind and generous woman sent me a tombstone photo of John Cherry. Would you like a copy? Do your CHERRYs connect with any Kilpatricks?? Especially a Alice Bell Kilpatrick?? 3. Posted on: Ottawa County Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Ottawa/10459 Surname: BURTON ------------------------- I'm wondering if the one room school house I used to play in was the Quapaw School House. If so, it is down the street and across the street from the Indian Cemetery/Baptist Church. In the 1950's, they were located on a dirt road, down the street from the Ottawa Store which my grandfather, Virgil Burton, used to own. The school house was next door to the BURTON home which is still standing but owned by another family. This info is from the memory of a 61 year old female who used to visit my cousins. I was living in Tulsa with my parents, but absolutely loved to go to the country and play in that area. The church was so dear. Wish I could visit today, but am now in GA where, by the way, the BURTONS originated in 1836. Burton, GA is now covered by Lake Burton. Hope this has been somewhat helpful. Gerre
