This my son in law's grandmother. Does any one remember her or know where her husband was buried? Possibly he is at Webb City. He would have died about 1932. I have been loaned a clipping out of some newspaper showing Vera Ruth Wood receiving Teacher of the Year in Ottawa county public schools. She taught at Picher and is shown with her principal, Harold jones. It was at an OEA meeting at Miami after she had taught 35 years. We laid her to rest today. This is when the family relized that know ones knows about her husband or his people. She had remained single and raised her son. All help will be very much appreciated. Vera Ruth Wood Vera Ruth Wood, 95, Rogersville, Mo., passed away Friday, April 13, 2001, in Christian Health Care East, Springfield. But Sapulpa does. My ggrandfather was Enrique Gaines, when he left Tex. he abandoned my ggrandmohter living her with 3 small children. He changed his name to Henry Ginnis and lived in Ada, Ok where he married a woman by the name of Mary Ritchie and had 7 children with her, when she died he remarried her sister and had 8 children with her. He died in Norman Ok in the State Hopt. and is buried Kellyville near Sapulpa, Ok. Henry Gaines' father was Frank Gaines who is listed in the 1870 census as being from N.C. in this 1870 census he is with Josephine his wife. We haven't been able to trace him back any furthur than 1870 or have yet to find anymore info on this Josephine. She is listed as being from Mexico. Frank Gaines is listed in the 1880 census with wife Manuela DelToro also from Mexico. And Frank lists his father as being from Penn. and his mother from Scotland. They are listed in the 1880 census with their children : Joseph age 9,,Alice age 6,,Henry age 4 (my ggrandfather)Marcos (Mark) age 2,,Guadalupe Caroline age 1/12,, Angela born 1882,,Francisco born 1884,,Marie born 1887,,Petra Adelaida born 1889. Marcos (Mark) marries Juliana in 1898 In Texas and they have one child named Frank born in 1899. In later census his two youngest daughters list their father as being from Mass. I then finally find a Gaines family in Framington Mass with among their listed children one being a Franklin Gaines born around the time my gggrandfather would've been born. What else do you have on your Gaines line ?? Also, I have thru ancestry.com a Criminal Case File for a Henry Williams also know as Henry Gaines. Its in the Ft. Smith Criminal Case Files, dated 1866-1900. Western District of Arkansas. His crime adultery. Rose

I am searching for two lost brothers, thought to be in the Miami, Ok. area in the early 1900's. Robert Mathes b. abt 1855 in England. Joseph Mathis ( This is the last spelling I had on him) b.abt. 1852 in England. They moved with parents John & Sarah in 1857 to Illinois. Joseph left and went to Kansas then to Ok. Robert is listed in an obit of his brothers, as being in Miami, Ok. Would love to hear from any Mathes or Mathews family. Joseph and Robert had brothers Daniel, William, and Samuel (died at 1yr) and a sister Mary Jane (Jennie). Would appreciate any help. Sandy (Matthes) Rader
Posted on: Ottawa County Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Ottawa/10472 Surname: Pope, Langly ------------------------- Looking for information on grave of my great grandfather, Issac Smith Pope. He killed himself in April 1891 in Fairland, Ottawa County. His wife, Stella, lived in Mendon, Missouri and didn't have enough money to have his body returned, and we pregnant with my grandfather and could not travel to Oklahoma. Isaac was buried in Fairland as a pauper. Does anyone know which cemetery his body might have ended up at? And is there any chance there would be a record of some sort? I do have a newspaper clipping from Kentucky, (where his brothers lived). It's the "Owensboro (Kentucky) Messenger" from October 3, 1891. I also have an article from the "Vinita Indian Chieftan" from Thursday, April 30, 1891 that discusses his suicide, noting he had arrived in Fairland six weeks previous as an agent for Columbus nursery and was staying at the home of J. R. Langly. The Chieftan article noted that since his arrival, Isaac had "varried his occupation between selling fruit trees and imbibing vile intoxicants." The Kentucky paper noted that he had promised his wife he wouldn't drink anymore and after drinking heavily he'd killed himself in remorse. Whatever the cause, I would like to know where his body was buried. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Nancy
