    3. Discovery of cemetery halts roadwork--Associated Press-Kansas City-- Construction of a new highway in south Kansas City has been halted by the discovery of a small cemetery dating back to the Civil War era. State officials are anxious to find any descendants of the Holloway family who are buried in the cemetery. If the heirs can't be found, the state will have to get court permission to move the nine graves in the plot, in order to finish a new Missouri 150. Construction workers recently unearthed a marble headstone, dating from 1858, while moving a large section of water pipe. Archaeologists later found another headstone and evidence of seven other graves. The site has not been disturbed further. Please pass this on to other lists. 3. Yesterday I was contacted about Lincolnville, OK and Fivemile creek about info for a fiction book. As I check other resources, anyone with information, please contact Renee off list (she is not a member of the list): **Orig. Mess*** ...Lincolnville is in the North East corner of Oklahoma, in Ottawa County. Neighboring it is Quapaw and Oak Grove. It is about a half an hour away from Miami. Any kind of information would be useful. Population, to give me an idea of its size. If there is a town there at all...or if it is just rural farmland...or whatever. I'm starting to think I have picked a bad area, because there seems to be absolutely no information on it whatsoever. Then again, I always did love a challenge. I myself am from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I've never actually been to Oklahoma for a visit, but my best friend/fiance currently lives there (down in Lawton). Most of my novels take place in the midwest and lower (Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma), I adore that part of the country, having driven through it once. I hope to spend much more time exploring there in the near future. 3. Vikki (Victoria) Lu BRITTAIN ALLEN passed from this earth into her Heavenly Fathers' arms at 1:57 A.M. Sunday May 6, 2001 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, NEWTON county MO after being hospitalized for 19 days. Born Oct 01, 1944 in Washington state, daughter of Jack Dyke BRITTAIN, deceased. She had been a resident of Joplin, Jasper county, MO for about a year & a half. Even though her physical body had been weak since childhood, her spirit was strong. Vikki tried to help many people as she could, in their search for their roots. It made her heart sing with joy, to play even the tiniest part in helping people find their past. She was very proud of her first web site, dedicated to her father, which features a 1917-1918 city directory for Miami Oklahoma & the small surrounding communities (Ottawa county). Her personal quest to locate her biological brother, who was adopted out, was sadly never fulfilled. If family is defined by a blood relationship alone, there is no immediate family, but sometimes it's not the blood in the veins that makes family, rather the feeling of love born within the heart. With that, she had become a part of our family. Otsalanlvi anniyaya. In keeping with her wishes, her mortal remains have been cremated. Her ashes will be interred at a later date due to limited financial resources. Donations to help with the mortuary expenses, are welcomed and should be directed to Parker Mortuary, RE: Acct. # 010509, 1502 S.
