Mrs Payne, survived by her husband, W. M. Payne and several children was buried in the Honey Creek Cemetery. (note: Mrs Payne's maiden name was Mary Woodley b. 7 Mar 1864 in AR d. 27 Jan 1930. She married about 1880 in AR William McAlister Payne) (note: Honey Creek - Wilson - Salt Creek Cemeteries are all the same. Mrs Stowers a former Okmulgee resident, died Monday morning in a Seminole hospital. She had resided in Highland, Calif. until several weeks ago. She was born Nov 24, 1888 at Norfork, Ark. and moved to Highland, Calif from Okmulgee in 1942. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Highland. Her husband, Demetrius Stowers preceded her in death on Jul 3, 1965. Survivors include four sons; Preston and Russell Stowers of Okmulgee, Eugene Stowers of Phillips, TX and Manuel Stowers of Mentone, Calif., three daughters; Mrs Manza Gurtner of Seminole, Mrs Jewell Patterson of Westminister, Calif. and Mrs Beulah Mae Sayers of Highland, Calif., Two brothers; George Payne of Oklahoma City and John Payne of Okmulgee,, a sister; Mrs Bessie Rader of Oakview, Calif., 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. (Note: Funeral was held in the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Okmulgee with Rev Richard Ham officiating, assisted by Rev Marvin Nichols. L. Pruett on the Nuyaka Road. Cause of death was a heart attck. She was born in AR and lived for a number of years in Pauls Valley, coming to Okmulgee County in 1918 where she has since resided. Her husband died in 1950. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are four daughters; Mrs Velma McDonald of Phillips, TX, Mrs Lydia Foster of Bakersfield, CA, Mrs Lola Lange of Lemon Grove, CA. and Mrs Eva Arnold of Fort Braggs, CA., three sisters; Mrs Bessie Rader of Lemon Grove, CA, Mrs Martha Stowers of Los Angles, CA and Mrs Essie Smith of Armona, CA, three brothers; the Rev George Payne and John Payne of Okmulgee and Henry Payne of Denver, CO; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Rev Willis Baldridge will officiate assisted by Rev Melvin Garrison of Pauls Valley. Interment will be in Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan-Wise-McClendon Funeral Home. Mr Payne died May 1. He was born Sep 17, 1900 in AR and was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness church.
