Ok Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Okmulgee?read=494 Surname: Reeves, Smith, McDaniel, Keeth ------------------------- My grandfather, Linus Samuel "Hoss" Smith was married to Fannie Lou Reeves. This marriage probably took place before statehood, and it probably took place in Okmulgee County--at least that is where Fannie's parents lived. She has descendents in Okmulgee County even today. He was the son of Mary Lucy Smith and Edwin Smith. He had half-siblings named McDaniel from his mother's first marriage--these siblings were Learh, Claude, Annie, and Cal McDaniel. I do not know the names of Fannie's parents. Hoss and Fannie are a sad story. From all family accounts, theirs was a true love match, and I suspect they married very young. They had three children--Mary, Bill, and Morgan. The children were born (approximately) 1905, 1907, and 1909. Then Fannie Lou died. She may have died in childbirth, but I do not know. Hoss was young, heartbroken, poor, and left with three children to care for. He then married my grandmother, Callie Dora Keeth, with whom it appears he also had a happy union. She was the daughter of Sylvester Keith and Salina Viola Miles, and she was only 18 when they married. That would mean they married in 1912 or 1913. This marriage could have been in Okmulgee County, but I've never been able to find licenses for either of these marriages. Hoss and Callie had two children, a daughter named Ira who was born in 1915 and a son named Samuel Lenus who was born in 1920--where, I do not know. Hoss died one year later, in 1921. He was probably not yet 40 years old and the cause of his death is not known. He is buried in Crystal, Oklahoma. Fannie's son, Bill Smith, lived on Tiger Mountain until the late 1950's. He had daughters named Dorothy, Louise, Patsy, Judy, and Billie Faye. He had sons named Leon, Wayne, and Clifford. I have fond memories of visiting the old school on Tiger Mountain Road with these children--that was in the 1940's. If anyone can tell me about Lenus Samuel "Hoss" Smith--or Fannie Lou or Callie Dora, please do. I would indeed be grateful. Shirley
