Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ok/Okmulgee/613 Surname: Chasteen, Gage, Huckaby, Walls, French, Mantooth, Golightly, Goins ------------------------- I have found the following: Samuel Marion Mantooth m. Eliza Malone Brooks. Eliza's brother, John Dunn Brooks, married Samuel Marion Mantooth's sister Nancy Jane Mantooth. All their descendants are double cousins. Samuel Marion Mantooth and Eliza Malone Brooks Mantooth son is Samuel Finis Mantooth. Samuel Finis married Lue (Luo) Jane Golightly. Samuel Finis and Lue Jane's son is Virgil Finis who married Alice Ida Chasteen. Alice Ida Chasteen's father is Martin Chasteen. I am searching for my husband's great great grandparents. Martin Chasteen and Leona Gage of Okmulgee, OK. I have their marriage cert. which states ages Martin 21, Leona 16. I have a copy of the 1910 Okmulgee Census: Martin, Head, 25; Leona, 20, Wife; Alice I., 2 (my grandmother); Mana(?) B., 22, Brother. I believe Martin and Maney (my Uncle Maney) are brothers to Annie Eveline Chasteen. Maney B. Chasteen is buried in Little Cemetary, Little, OK (b. 3/17/1887, d. 7/31/1967. The three are children of Robert (James) Chasteen and Ida Alice Huckaby. I believe Ida Alice Huckaby is the daughter of Andrew Huckaby and Elsie who are listed on the Dawes Rolls with their daughter "Little Elsie". Later data shows Ida was born after Andrew, Elsie and "Little Elsie" being included on roll. Also searching for Lue (Luo) Jane Golightly. She is my husband's other side's great grandmother. She married Samuel Finis Mantooth, January 3, 1900 in Garvin, County, OK. Records are in the Ardmore, OK courthouse. I have documented my husband's grandfather's side (Mantooth) back several hundred years. However, I am stuck with Lue Jane Golightly's side. I am also stuck on who Martin Chasteen and Leona Gage's parents were. According to the 1910 Census I have, Martin was born in Arkansas, as were both his parents. Leona was born in Texas, her father was born Arkansas and her mother was born in Illinois. Their daughter, my grandmother, Alice Ida was born in Oklahoma. (I have written to try and get a copy of her birth cert.) Proving my husband's Indian heritage would be wonderful for him in that he has always felt he had Indian blood as he looks Indian. He was adopted at birth and until 1 1/2 years ago, at the age of 48, he never knew any of his birth family. I found them and he and his birth family have all happily reunited. My husband is 50 and I believe it would be a wonderful gift to be able to give him his completed family genealogy as he has spent his entire life knowing absolutely nothing about himself and his heritage and where he came from. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Kate Ellenwood Bob_Ellentooth@worldnet.att.net
