Ok Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Okmulgee?read=533 Surname: Black, Smith, McDaniel, Keeth, Reeves ------------------------- Probably not..but some names do match. My great-grandmother was Mary Lucy Black McDaniel Smith. She outlived two husbands and died in her 80's in Stonewall, OK. The year was 1934. She had a brother named Charles Samuel Black and another brother named Samuel Perryman Black. Her father's name was Samuel Wesley Black. She also had a brother named John Sparks Black. I don't think the family is the same...but it's worth checking...if not directly related, they could still be cousins. The reason I wonder is that my Black-Smith branch wound up in Okmulgee County, at least for a while. Mary Lucy Black Smith's youngest child was Linus Samuel ("Hoss") Smith. He apparently met and married Fannie Lou Reeves in Okmulgee County. Both Hoss and Fannie Lou died young, leaving orphaned children to be reared by relatives and step parents. Fortunately for the children, both relatives and step relatives were kindly people. Still, it was hard for everyone. Hoss and Fannie Lou had a son named William "Bill" Smith, who lived around Tiger Mountain and still has descendents in the Dewar area. They also had a daughter named Mary(who married Vergil Matlock and moved to California during the 1930's) and a son named Morgan who moved his family to Oregon, probably during the 40's or 50's. I don't ever remember Mary or Morgan living in Oklahoma, but Bill was in Henryetta when I was a small child in the 1940's... I doubt that this helps, but maybe we'll be lucky. Shirley PS Hoss also had a sister named Carrie Lou Smith. She married a man named Mallow. Until I started researching the family history, I never knew she existed. I've never been able to find any of her descendents...
