Hello, I'd like to introduce myself to you. My name is LaRae Halsey Brooks, and I am the new Okmulgee County mailing list manager. I'll also be doing the GenWeb page for the county, as well as maintaining the seven different GenConnect message boards. The Okmulgee County mailing list currently has 91 subscribers: 71 in regular mail mode, and 20 in digest. Great numbers! I think it would be a good idea to start off with a modified Roll Call. Please share with us all your Okmulgee families. My mother was born and raised in Beggs, so I will post my Sullivan/Shipley families. With your permission, I will put your posts on a special page on the county webpage... who knows, you might find long lost cousins! When posting, please include the basics....WHO (complete name), WHAT (are you seeking?), WHEN (did these folks live?), WHERE (did these folks live?) and HOW (can we reach you?). These are great 'memory joggers', and I put them into the rotation of taglines that will (hopefully) appear at the end of every post made to the mailing list. The Okmulgee County GenWeb page is very nicely designed, so I will not be changing the format, but will instead be asking you all to help add valuable resource material to the page by contributing anything you may have -- or have access to -- that pertains to early residents of the county. I would like to start a section for Okmulgee Family Genealogies, so those of you who wish to place your family information on the webpage, may do so. You can also add favorite old photographs with the material, if you'd like. Even if you have a personal genpage, this will be a way to highlight those in your family who lived in Okmulgee County. Links to the Genconnect Boards will be placed on the page by this evening. The Queries page has 285 messages (terrific!), and I reset the board to display all the posts, rather than just the ones from the last few months. If loading time on this page becomes a problem for any of you, please just let me know and I'll cut back some on the number displayed. Other boards you will now be able to access in addition to the current Queries board will be for Bible Records, Biographies, Deeds, Obituaries, Pensions, and Wills. Since there are no messages posted to any of the newer boards, I invite you all to help put these boards to good use! Thank you all in advance for helping to provide valuable research material for all of us who are looking for our Okmulgee County kin! I hope you will check back on the webpage in the coming weeks to see the many new additions planned, and I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together on these projects. Kind regards, LaRae TimeTrvlrO@aol.com http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tmetrvlr/index.html Okmulgee listmgr http://www.rootsweb.com/~okokmulg/okmulgee.htm

Subj: [TXBOWIE] ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES Date: 03/13/2000 7:35:03 AM Central Standard Time From: Hstryhntr2@aol.com To: TXBOWIE-L@rootsweb.com Hello List Members, Texarkana USA Genealogical Society has in its possession more than 9,000 Original Marriage Certificates for marriages in Bowie County, TX and 2,000 + Originals for Miller County, AR. The majority of them are from about 1889 to 1935. A few older, some more recent. The Miller County are indexed by both Groom and Bride. The Bowie County are indexed by Groom only. Currently, we are working to index these by Bride as well but it will take a while longer. They can be obtained for the low cost of $2.50, a SASE and a short lineage chart showing your relationship to the individuals. If you had relatives who married in either of these counties in this time frame, I will be happy to check for availability of their certificates. If we have them, you will be notified on where to send your information so that it will reach the proper person. Will also notify you if they are not available. We would love to get all of these Certificates placed in the hands of family members as they would be a great addition to your family records. Please feel free to forward this mail to any list to which you subscribe. Thanks, Doris Lindblad Hstryhntr2@aol.com

Hi all Oklahoma researchers!! I am new to OK research, but hope to find some help with my Radebaugh line!! I am descended from George Washington Radebaugh (also seen Radabaugh), and his wife Valinda Kin (Bates) Radebaugh. George and Valinda died in Okmulgee County, and are buried there. I am interested in a couple of things. If you can help to steer me to the answers, I would VERY much appreciate it!! I know that George died in 1929 in Henryetta, so I am interested in cemetery records for Salem or Senora cemeteries, that might give me genealogical info on him. Any ideas on how to find this?? I also would like to see the Census for 1910 and 1920 for him. Does anyone have access to these or their indices?? ANY help is GREATLY appreciated -- THANK YOU!!!! Warm regards to all of you, and best of luck in your research!! Tracy in Washington State

Hi, Dewar is a small, small town east of Henryetta, OK, if my sense of remembered geography serves me well (I drove through it last year). I believe Dewar would have been considered a mining town since my father's adopted family (HOFFMAN, NOBLE) and my husband's mother's family (STANLEY) both lived there about the time your McKee did, the 1910 period. And the men in the family all worked in the mines. Coaltown or Coalton is nearby and was also a small, small mining town (I drove through there, too). And Shulter, which is north of Henryetta and south of Okmulgee, is where my HOFFMAN, NOBLE family moved to sometime before the 1920 census. Good luck, Ginger P.S. If you run across the above or the following names in your research, please let me know: MOREY, RICH, PELL.
Hi I am looking for any Snyder descendents that lived around Okmulgee in the early 1900's. I just recently learned that Charley or Charles Snyder died in Okmulgee. As far as I know all his brothers and one sister moved to BC, Canada in the early 1900's. I am looking for any ancestor's of Glenna Snyder who was a sister to the above Charley. She also had brothers Clay, George, Frank & John. I would like to learn the names of these children's parents and any other pertinent facts about them. Glenna Snyder was born in 1886 and married Oliver Marshall Southwick in 1907. I would also like to know where she was born and married. She died in BC Canada. If anyone has any information, please contact me. Connie

In reference to your query about Henry Stanley, I can't help you with the location of the Wilson cemetery. However, I wonder if your Henry Stanley is related to our Arthur Owens Stanley, born about 1883, probably in East Texas. He came to Indian Territory from Texas, an area near the Louisiana state line, between 1895-1897. He married Jessie Williams in the Eufala area, moving to Okmulgee sometime after 1912, which is where he died in the 1930's, I believe, after living at 909 S. Sioux Street. He fathered four sons and a daughter, the daughter being my husband's mother. His widow lived until the early 1970's and is buried in the Okmulgee cemetery just south of town. Ginger Goodell

Since I have never posted my family information on this list before, let me do so now. To save space on our archieves let me just show a hyperlink here. When you click on this hyperlink it will take you to a list of surnames, which are all hyperlinks in theirselves. If you see a familiar name, just click on it and you will go to that person's genealogical information. Please be advised that I have no more information on any particular individual than what you will see on my site. I have put my entire line on the internet, privatized to protect the living. The names you will see on the list of surnames is the result of 41 years of research that I have done primarily on the line of Childers, although there is plenty of information on my collateral lines contained in there. <A HREF="http://www.mccserv.com/genealogy/childers/html/surnames.htm">Index of Surnames</A> Happy Hunting !! Hi, folks -- We are trying to locate the OKOKMULG list manager. Mail to the administrator's e-mail address, gkuntz@wavefront.com, has been bouncing for several weeks and we've been unable to determine whether they are still around using a different e-mail address or have dropped off the face of the earth. If you are the OKOKMULG list administrator, please go to your list utility page and update the list admin's address with your current address. If you've forgotten where the utility page is, you can get to it at this URL: http://lists.rootsweb.com/findutil.pl?OKOKMULG If you're not the list manager but know who is, you may want to forward this note to them. :-) If the list administrator's address hasn't been changed by Monday, December 6 (that's a week from today), then we'll assume that the list has been abandoned and will put it up for adoption.
