The Lillard family homesteaded in that area before Douglas was founded and is on the 1890 census. The small family cemetery locally called Lillard-Woodard is roughly half way between Jones and the platted site of Douglas City. Douglas City was founded after the 1890 census and was a ghost town by the turn of the century so it does not appear on the 1900 census by that name. Some of the Douglas City families can be found in Springer, Deep Fork, Dewey & Luther Townships in 1900 but others moved further away. Because of its proximity to Douglas, some people believe that this was the Douglas Cemetery. I'm old enough to remember another small cemetery much closer to the original townsite, which my greatgrandfather told me was the Douglas cemetery. It was razed over 50 years ago, but I don't know whether any of the graves were moved or even whether any of the few remaining markers were still legible. This may be more history than you want to know, but I thought the background might help you find more records pertaining to your family. If you can give me any clues about how your WHITE family was related to other early families of that area I may be able to find more information.
