Many funeral homes add the cost of the obit into the funeral package as the OKC paper (along with most others) has discovered that it is a VERY profitable section of the newspaper. My mom died last year. To run an obit in the paper would have cost over $100. I'm not aware of a paper for Spencer, but Midwest City has a newspaper and I would bet that Spencer obits would be in that. I will try to get to the library later this week and see.

I was hoping to find family information from the Robert Stevens obituary. Is it common practice for the Daily Oklahoman to just post notices without the normal obituary information? Is Spencer large enough to have a local newspaper that may have published his full obituary?

Both his parents were born in KY, this we know. We also know he married Rebecca Dickson. His children were Robt. L, Nore E.(sp?) Paris E., Fanny E., Hueston, Ollie and Phoebe. These children are on the 1900 Lewis co KY census. I would tend to believe that his sister-in-law would be Luella Dixon. The names of Frazier and Rice are unknown so far and we don't have a Mamie at all either. I haven't run across any relation in MO yet.Is the last census from Greeley twp? This is so confusing!

I found the following in the 1920 OK Oklahoma County census: PARKER, George M - head - m - w- 63 - married - KY - MD - KY - contractor (brickwork) Mamie - wife - f - w - 60 - married - KY - WV - KY - none Monroe - son - m - w - 21 - single - OK - KY - KY - (illegible profession) John - son - m - w - 16 - single - OK - KY - KY FRAZIER, George - grandson - m - w - 15 - single - OK - KY - KY I know the birth date is off, but you will find that census birth dates are not all that reliable. Also in the 1930 census for Oklahoma County: PARKER, G. M. - head - m - w - 74 - married - 23 - KY - MD - KY - contractor (homes) Mamie - wife - f - w - 70 - married - 20 - KY - VA - KY - none John - son - m - w - 26 - single - OK - KS - KS - brick mason RICE, Stella - daughter -- f - w - 48 - married - 20 - KS - KY - KY - none J. Frank - son-in-law - m - w - married - 30 - MO - MO - MO - merchant (books & magazines) Frank - grandson - m - w - 23 - single - OK - MO - KS - merchant (books & magazines) There are some inconsistencies between the two listings, but they are the same family. They are in OKC in the 1910 census as well. With a 14 year old daughter born in OK, they had to have arrived in Oklahoma Territory before 1895. I realize this may not be the right George Parker, but there are a number that come very close. Good luck with your search.
