PORTMAN, who the past year, managed the boarding house on North Main, died early Monday morning, aged about 42 years, from complications of troubles, the direct cause being heart disease. The remains were shipped to Texas 21 oct 1897 The M.K. & T. railway has put in a new station about three miles north of eufaula and named it Wells, after Mr W.F. WELLS, of Union Agency, who served with the company some years as operator.
