Peter Gilstrap, Sr. per Emigrants to America Indentures servants Recruited in London 1718-1733, John Wareing left London as Peter Gelstrap per Agent John Taylor on October 10, 1726. He was shown going to Jamaica; however, this appears to be an error as he arrived and was with Benjamin Aydelott in Somerset County, Maryland. He subsequently married Benjamin's daughter Rachel. They later relocated to Craven County, NC and were the parents of Peter, Jr. who is your ancestor and Idolet, my ancestor. The Aydelott family were Huguenots.Benjamin Aydelott, Jr. was born about 1673. His wife was Sarah Fooks. Ben, Jr's. father, Ben, Sr. was born in London in 1630-1644 and died 1704 in Maryland. His wife Magedeline "Marie" Pingar was born March 28, 1641 in London and was the daughter of Jacques Pingar born in France. He married Magdeline Despines in London in 1639. Magdeline was born in Frace. Ben, Sr's father Da! vid Aydelott was born in France 1610 and was a Cobbler/Shoemaker by trade. He was a French Hugenot. He married Marie Souchan January 5, 1631. Marie was born in France in 1610. Hopefully, as you explore the arrival of the Gilstrap family in the UK this may open some doors for you. Am still anxious to know about Peter, Sr's. parents, etc. in England. Good Hunting....Joe Gilstrap gilstrapj@aol.com
