I am looking for information on Jennie Spears. Jennie Spears was released from Vinita State Hospital, in Muskogee County, in 1964, after serving 42 years of a life sentence for shooting and killing a woman in Haskell County. Jennie was given a life sentence in December of 1922, and sent to McAlester Prison. She was 36 years old at that time. After serving one year at McAlester, she was moved to Vinita State Hospital. In 1963 she was given a one year medical leave. In 1964, her sentence was changed to time served, and she was released. Jennie would have been 78 years of age on her release. I am looking for any information on Jennie, after her release. I am looking for her death date and place of burial. I have no idea what Jennie's maiden name was. I do know that she was born in 1886, but I do not know where. I do know that Jennie was married first to Mr. Jimmie Mykle. That marriage ended in divorce. On July 14, 1914, EH Spears married Mrs. Jimmie Mykle, in Stigler, OK, Haskell County. I know that she and Mr. Spears had a daughter Jewel Spears, born in 1916. Jewel was put up for adoption after Jennie was sentenced.
