Nell, 1900 Census Chickasaw Nation T2S R3E E. D. 190 Sheet 8 Notes: Oklahoma and most Western states were surveyed based on a grid system. In Oklahoma where surveying began in 1870, the East-West Basline and the North-South Indian Meridian intersect about 1 mile South of Ft. Arbuckle in what is now Murray County. Each township in this grid is designated by T for Township and R for Range and encompases a 36 square mile area. If you want more detail on how this grid system works let me know. Anyway, your Marleys lived in T2S R3E which puts them about 15 miles North East of Ardmore, Oklahoma in Murray County. Present day Ardmore is in Carter County. This was the Eastern portion of the Chickasaw Nation. If you will look on a present day map of Oklahoma, they were living roughly in the area between the small towns of Dougherty and Nebo North East of present day Ardmore.
