    3. Dear Mary Ann: Check WEB site "ancestry.com/subscribe/subscribetrially.asp?sourcecode=FB11HB. Some Cherokee records can be found there. Many births were never recorded and many Cherokee people did not get counted in the Dawes Roles. Good luck, newfrontier in Prescott ----- Original Message ----- From: Ralston's Fence and Deck To: [email protected] Sent: 8/26/01 7:49:18 PM Subject: Re: [OKMUSKOG] 1900 Cherokee Nation Index I don't know the family but how did you know t look in the Heritage Quest? Like a dunce I made a copy of the people without copying the top portion of the page and then sent the film back to Heritage Quest. It is Heritage Quest film number 0059093, T623-1845. It is from one of the Indian forms, because it has the degree of Indian blood and the Cherokee names. The copy I made contains line 21 through 39. Dwelling 51, Family 51, Farm #34 Line 21 Benge, Samuel, head, Indian, male, Jan 1832, age 68, married 30 years, etc. Line 22 Nancy, wife, Indian, female, Feb 1845, age 53, married 30 years, etc. Line 23 Theodore, son, Indian, male, Mar 1875, age 25, married 0 years, etc. Line 24 Cora, D-in-law, white, female, Feb 1880, age 20, married 0 years, etc. Line 25 Jennie, daughter, Indian, female, Feb 1882, age 18, single, etc. Line 26 Coon, Burdnid, servant, white, male, Jan 1880, age 20, single, etc. In Dwelling 53 there is another family of Benges. They are Samuel, Sally, Carrie, and Samuel. All Cherokee and related to the Benges in dwelling 51, I believe, but no proof. While I am asking for help - does anyone know either of these families? Thank you in advance. Your help will be very much appreciated. Ms. Cecil V. 3. >Mary Ann In response to your question. I knew that my grandmother was born in Indian Territory in 1887, so I rented the 1900 Indian Territory Census, I started with the Cherokee Nation, because she and my grandfather lived in that part of Oklahoma after it became a state in 1907. I did not find her, but it did find some of my other relations in these four films. One being the Benge family that I am trying to trace back to an enumeration district and page number. The next films I rent will be for the Creek Nation. Part of Muskogee County is in what was the Cherokee Nation and part is in what was the Creek Nation. I do not believe that she was listed, but I am not going to give up until I check what I consider the possibilities. I do not believe that my family were Indians, though there are some Mortons on the Guion-Miller Indian Roll. I wish you luck in your search. If I can be of any help please feel free to contact me.
