    2. Appreciate all the great help concerning the census in Indian Territory. Penny Peace found my Thompsons still in MO in 1880. They had removed to OK Indian Territory by 1883 because James Wyman Thompson, son to Alexander and Martha is reported to have been born at Ft. Gibson Indian Territory 1883. What type records were there for the next census year which would have been 1890 for the Indian Territory? James Wyman was grandfather to my husband. Would like to place him on record somewhere with Alexander and Martha. Again, much thanks to everyone. Faye Heffington

    3. The City of Muskogee and a good portion of what is now Muskogee County was in the Creek Nation, not the Cherokee Nation. The portion of Muskogee County that was Cherokee Nation was in the Candian District. The Cherokee Census of 1880 has information that varies among the schedules but generally includes the individual's name, nativity, occupation, age, sex, agricultural information, and is cross-referenced to the Dawes Roll. Schedule 1-includes Cherokee Citizens, including Native, Adopted White, Shawnees, Delawares and Freedmen. Schedule 2-Orpahns Schedule 3-Rejected Claimants Schedule 4-Individuals whose claims to citizenship were pending Schedule 5-Intruders Schedule 6-Individuals living in the Cherokee Nation under permit Sue Tolbert, Muskogee

    3. My computer has been down all day, so I am sure that I missed a posting or two. Who are you looking for in Muskogee County? Even though I do not live there, I have lots of family from there, and I have done quite a lot of research in Muskogee County. I also have three wonderful books, Dawes Roll Plus, and Cherokee Roots Vols 1 & 2. I also belong to Ancestry.Com and I have the Online Census Records. If I can be of any help, please feel free to let me know. I will be more than happy to help with any lookups that I can.
