    3. Did you know that if you post an obit that was printed in the newspaper, the newspaper has the copyright to the obit and you need permission to post it. This copyright situation is very serious. 3. A public record is a census record, marriage records, birth records, cemetery records when you survey the cemetery. A book or a film of a book is not public records. So when you are posting information that is a public record but when it is word for word from a book that was published then is stops becoming public records and becomes copyrighted. 3. I really don't know the answer to your specific question, but I do know that Muskogee Gen Soc gave permission to LDS to publish "some" of our publications. I would think that LDS might have a problem with it too, this is posting their information also. Like I said before, MCGS, doesn't have a problem doing any kinds of lookups in any of our indexes, at all! But, at least for the society's sake, please don't post these, our publications is our biggest source for funds so that we might educate and promote genealogy through workshops, programs, seminars and meetings. 3. Hi Joyce, Thanks so much for all your help. The names I have ARE correct. The butchering of the names in the info you found come from a relative who got it wrong. I believe (no actual proof) that Isaac Franklin CALLISON's name was actually Isaac Franklin Logan CALLISON. 3. Hi Chris, I have tried to get onto my Ancestry.com web site all evening and evidently they are down with problems of some kind. I did get onto the Family Search Site and could find nothing for Isaac Franklin Callison, when I entered his name. However, I did enter Maletha L. Coursey and the following is what came up: Maletha L. Coursey Born: February 13, 1861 Polk County, Missouri Father: Chesteen or Chestain Coursey Mother: Elizabeth Jane Crabtree Marriages: 1. J. F. Callison Married: October 3, 1880 No children names given 2. Isacc Fraklin Logon Born: 1857 Polk County, Missouri No children names given Siblings given for Maletha: (Maletha is listed also) 1. Ephreim L. Coursey Born: Jan 10, 1848 Logan, Ky 2. Maletha L. Coursey Born: Feb 03, 1861 Polk Co., Mo 3. Hiram Walker Coursey Born: March 15, 1850 Logan, Ky Died: March 29, 1936 4. Elizabeth Tilda Coursey Born May 19, 1866 Polk Co., Mo 5. Isiphena Coursey Born: June 15, 1852 Logan, Ky 6. Thomas J. Coursey Born: June 20, 1855 Logan, Ky 7. Riley S. Coursey Born: August 10, 1863 Polk Co., Mo 8. John R. F. Coursey Born: Sept. 22, 1858 Polk Co., Mo Died: October 18, 1908 9. Cardwell Mansfield Coursey Born December 30, 1846 Logan, Ky Died: February 3, 1929 Polk Co., Mo I will check Ancestry when and if they get the site back up. From this information, it seems that the names that you have are not correct. You sent me the name of Isaac Franklin Callison, and his name is J. F. Callison, according to Family Search Site, which is the LDS Site. This possibly is the reason that you are not finding them on the census records. I am sure that Maletha had children, either by her first husband or her second. Hopefully this information will help you some in your search. 3. On the map ( Muskogee County, OK, US GEN WEB SITE, Townships) it looks like Stigler would have been the closest, even tho it is in Haskell County. Have you checked the Family Search site. If you will send the names and dates, I can try to check for you. 3. Stigler is closer then Muskogee. Muskogee is about 40 miles and Stigler is 12 to 15 miles from Briartown. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christine Chambers" <cchambers@geotec.net> To: <OKMUSKOG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2003 3:51 PM Subject: [OKMUSKOG] Briartown marriages > If a family lived in Briartown, would the children have been more likely > to marry over in Stigler (Co seat of Haskell Co) or in Muskogee, which would > have been farther away?
