Sue, Sorry about that, I guess too much computer today. Anyway, I believe possibly around 1917. My father: Robert Lee Dickson was born May 10, 1918. And again, "thanks" for giving it a try. I do appreciate any clue you may be able to give me. Sue: I am hoping you can help me. Could you let me know if there is anything in the Muskogee directory for O.E. Steely and/or Bessie Steely (later Bessie Brown) for the 1930's through 1960's? I know Bessie owned a business in Muskogee during the 50's and 60's - The C&B Lounge (I think). Thank you so much. I am looking for John, James , Charles and Guersey McKnight. They were my grandmother's brothers. It seem I heard that three of her brothers were engineers at Muskogee. They were bn in the 1850s and early 1860s in MI. The family moved to Carthage, Jasper Co, MO in 1877. Grandmother and family moved to the Sauk and Fox Agency in 1892. I am assuming that both gr grandparents were dead at that time of my grandfather, Wm Henry White. My gr grandparents were Wm P(NY) and Harriet Williams (NY) McKnight . Wm P moved to Hillsdale , MI in 1835. Living there for 42 yrs, marrying in 1852, rearing 7 children. Wm P McKnight is buried at Carthage , MO-Dec 15, 1896. My grandmother, Jennie Elizabeth McKnight White , is the only person I know anything about. She had 6 brothers and sisters.Where are they ? John, Helen, James, Charles, Jennie, Jessie and Guernsey. Sincerely, Elnora Bowen [email protected]

Names included in following narration: CALDER/COLDER, DANFORTH, DOANE, DUNN, GIBBONS, GIVENS, HARRIS, HAWKINS, ROBINSON, TARRANT, WYMAN Places included: Arkansas, Indian Territory, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas This narration is to setup the situation for the sake of giving background for the reader. We start with a young couple leaving the northeast and traveling down toward Texas. On a river in Ohio, near Cincinnati, he falls off and drowns. She may have stopped for a while somewhere along the way in one of these states: Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri ending up in Arkansas Territory. We believe her to be an Elizabeth Harris (b. 1811) from New York State of Native American descent. {Looking for more information on her and her family.} We know she was in Arkansas when she had two or more children with the last name of DANFORTH. It is rumored that the father of her children is an Asa DANFORTH of Maryland. The children are Martha, Mary, possibly an Anne and one boy. Martha (1825) was born at Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., Ark., and Mary (1831) at Ft. Gibson of Indian Territory now in Muskogee Co., Ok. Elizabeth is next located in Texas with the last name of DOANE (1860 cen.) or DUNN (1870 cen.). Her new husbands name is rumored to be a William DOANE or DUNN, he is not listed in the census. There are children with her in the 1860 census with the last name of DOANE, a T.J. (23 b. Ark) and Abner (18 b. Ark.). In the 1880 census, Elizabeth is living with a granddaughter in Waxahachie, Ellis, TX. Nothing is known of her death and Asa DANFORTH is a complete mystery. Martha DANFORTH possibly arrived in Texas sometime in 1842/43 or she might have been in Ark., or the Indian Territory waiting to join her husband. She was the wife of a Dr. William CALDER/COLDER of Kentucky and was part of the Peters Colony. In Feb. of 1843 Dr. Calder, while traveling from Cedar Springs(now Dallas), Dallas Co., TX to Ft. English(Bonham), Fannin Co., TX was killed by Indians in Colin Co., TX and was buried there. {Looking for more information on where Martha was at this time and when or where their only child, a boy, was born.} All we have of this union is a probate record of Dallas county naming Marthas second husband (Elisha S. WYMAN) as the administrator. The child is listed as W.L.C. WYMAN in the 1850 census, assumption is that the C. stands for CALDER/COLDER. We have several references of this Wyman family unit in counties of the Dallas, Hill, Ellis, Navarro areas. Elisha(b.1811) is of Maine and was part of Mercer's colony, he died in Jan. 1853 Hill Co., TX at which point they had two children, Susanna Smith WYMAN (b. 1848/49) and Mary Henrietta WYMAN (b. 1850) born in TX. In Dec. 1853 we find Martha married a James M. GIVENS/GIBBONS in Ellis Co. TX. There was a probate for Elisha WYMAN (1854) listing James GIVENS/GIBBONS as guardian and administrator. Martha died in the mid to late 1850s in or near Ft. Belknap, Young Co., TX. James is known to have been involved with the army possibly even as a Quarter Master. In the 1860 census James was listed as married to someone else. As far as we know there weren't any children of this union. W. L. C. WYMAN disappears at this point in time. {Looking for information to fill in the blanks.} Mary DANFORTH visited her sister, Martha, and brother-in-law, Elisha S. WYMAN, in 1850 and at that time she met her first husband, Gen. Edward H. TARRANT. Mary and Gen. TARRANT were married on 6 April 1851 in Navarro Co., TX. When sister Martha died, General and Mary TARRANT fetched the WYMAN children and brought them back to Navarro Co., TX and to take care of them. Gen. TARRANT died in 1858. Mary remarried in Nov. 1859 to a James Emerson HAWKINS. Mary and James had children of their own and also took turns raising one of Mary's nieces, the WYMAN daughters, with Grandmother Elizabeth. James E. HAWKINS was also the administrator of the WYMAN girls estate. Mary died on 15 Feb. 1891 and J. E. HAWKINS died in 1912. The WYMAN girls grew up and married brothers, Susannah married William Allen ROBINSON (m. 1871 Tarrant Co., TX) and Mary Henrietta married Elisha Zachary Taylor ROBINSON (m. 1869 Ellis Co., TX). I am a descendant of Susannah and William Allen. We have a bit of information on this line, but would love to find out more on cousins and other relatives. This whole thing is to hopefully gain more information on Elizabeth HARRIS and Asa DANFORTH. Marriage records for Martha and Dr. William CALDER/COLDER and Elisha S. WYMAN. Information regarding the CALDER/COLDER ancestors and descendants would be wonderful. If anyone reading this has any information regarding this saga, or any light they could shed on the family or parts of it, would put me in heaven (not literally, I hope). Thank you, Gayle [email protected]
Found an album of greeting cards in my grandmother Kellogg things. The cards are to a Miss Hyacinth McKee--322 E Okmulgee--Muskogee, Okla. I have one of the cards and it reads: Birds Run 1 Oct. 5, 1914 Dear Hyacinth I wish you a happy Birthday and many more of them. From-- Grandma Clemen (the name ran off of the card and could possibly be Clement or Clemens) I am curious and would like to know who Hyacinth McKee is or was? As far as I know there wasn't anyone in the family by this name. Thanks Ruby
