I wanted to write, I don't have much, but I wanted to tell you that the McAlester Newspaper microfilms are at the Public Library in McAlester. They have a wonderful library for a small town, yet it is the county seat. I'm just thinking that maybe there is some articles around that time. The area code for McAlester is 918, but I don't know the address or phone number, but I'm thinking they may be on PERSI which is a periodical link between libraries where you can get newspaper articles, magazine articles, etc. and you might be able to obtain any articles that way if you can't get to McAlester yourself. I don't know if they do look-ups or not. Also, I wish my great uncle was still alive, he was a guard at McAlester prison for many years and this sounds like a case that might "stick" in your mind. But, since the prisoner was a woman, he would not have been her guard. Just some thoughts! Take care and go safely! I was told that Samuel had a brother by the name of Gee Dick who is also listed with the George and Charlotte,. but when I ordered all the stuff on them from the oklahoma historical society and read all of it and got the copy of his death certificate and sent all the paperwork to Tahlequah they told me that I had the wrong family? Hello, how many people had the name GeeDick? Makes me wonder what his mother was seeing when he was born since it was told that Indians named their children after the first thing that they saw? LOL LOL. Then I was sent some research that another family member had done and she has a Eligah Butler down for the father and a Mary Bayles (first marriage name don't know the maiden) as the mother. So I am really confused when it comes to Samuel Too many stories surround him. And I can't get the birth certificate delayed or nothing on him. Tried and they say that there is no record. And the Indians didn't record births until the white people made them and my luck it was way after my great grandfather was born. [email protected]
For Robert Gullett.....did you check the 1920 census? Write to Muskogee Courthouse for marriage record for Robt Gullet between years of 1910-1920?
One Samuel's father was George and mother Charlotte and Samuel was 11 years old. The other one was Samuel H. and he was 9 years old had a brother Richard Butler. Hi: The Mental Hospital that you refer to is not in Muskogee Co., but in Craig Co. Its name is Eastern State Hospital, Vinata Okla. You can get copies of the medical records of patients of this hopital by writning to them at Eastern State Hospital, Atten Medical Records Dept., PO Box 90 Vinita Ok 74301. They will send you the proper forms to fill out and the address of the Judge to whom to send the documents. The Judge will will then forward the documents to the Mediical records. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2001 12:59 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [OKMUSKOG] Jennie Spears I am looking for information on Jennie Spears.
