Hi Joyce Started 1st grade in 1949, Graduated Porum High School in 1961. The remember the Spears name, but can't remember anyone personally. Ralph
Donnah, I finally got a chance today to check the directories for you. I did find several people with the Bird name but not Charles Richard, Anna or Lula. Is there any place else I could check for you? Marriage indexes? Obituaries? I'm pretty sure there are a couple of other people that come to our Library that are researching the Bird family. Off hand I can't think of who they are but will keep my ears open and see if I can connect you with one of them. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. How so very nice to hear from you! I am probably the only Koplen genealogist in the whole world and when I saw the name, it really came and grabbed me. The name is VARY rare and there is only one other family in the US who are Jewish. My branch came to the US in 1851 from Prossekel Prussia/Poland. I wanted to find out about Frieda to determine is she is from one of the known branches, or a whole new branch. What can you tell me about her. I have also corresponded with a Thorn Whitehawk <[email protected]> who posted information from a "family book" at Ancestry.com and responded "As far as Frieda goes all I have is the family book. Like I was saying earlier this is not really my side of the family. All I have on the old dates like that is what people have previously done. I believe that entries and updates were done on a need to basis and not researched. Like we were married in November ... that would have been added then instead of waiting for the marriage records to show that it has happened.I have tried to search for people and what not but have had little luck. Maybe if I knew where and how to start, instead of just looking.
Hi George I just had to put my two cents worth in here, There was a Conley School (Country) located 3 miles north and 1 mile east of Porum, Oklahoma. It is where i started in the first grade. Fond memories of that one room school. Ralph
Curtis Conley had Conley Furniture there in Muskogee for years. He has a brother Jack Conley that is still living in Muskogee. They came form Wainwright, OK. I received information about an uncle who worked for the Katy from the United States of America Railroad Retirement Board 844 North Rush Street Chicago, Illinois 60611-2092 I think they cover all the railroad employees in place of the SSDI. I got a lot of information. Good luck. Sue Dallas
Kathy, if you want information on Midland Railroad go to Google and do a search on them and take your pick. they will have info on every RR that went by the name Midland. As for the records? Alot of the old RR have merged and they might or might not have records. I know the Katy doesn't. Hope this helps Mary -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, July 23, 2001 1:47 AM Subject: Re: [OKMUSKOG] Midland Railroad Records? yours is the only response i got...........i guess no one knows if there are records or not. Can anyone tell me where I could find the medical journal that Dr. John Walls of Henryetta kept? >
Thanks for your help. I'll have to call them, as I live in KY. I guess I could write. Well, thanks again! I would be glad to offer help, but I'm just starting to collect information in this search for her. John
The Lescher Funeral Home is still in business. They still have the old books about funerals. It just might have some information about where the family lived and some names. Good luck and good hunting. Carole Ashbrook
Hello! I am seeking information concerning Tennie Gregory Borders b. abt. 1878, in Allen Co., KY. She was married to William H. Borders of Sumner Co. TN. They were married in 1897. She supposedly moved to Muskogee, Muskogee Co., OK between 1915-1920, when her husband was placed in a hospital in KY. She had a son, Robert Borders, who moved to OK about 1938, and was a member of the K Street Pentecostal Holiness Church. His wife was named Lyda. Robert died in 1968, with Lescher Funeral Home handling the arrangements. I have very little info on either of these relatives, and would appreciate ANY and all help I could receive. If there are materials to send snail mail, let me know, and I will refund any costs accrued. Thanks again for your help. John Willson-grandson of Tennie Gregory Borders. My father's name was Finis Borders.
You might try to contact Betty Barker, president of the Adair County Historical Society. Adair County is not far from Webbers' Falls and also, Betty is a Starr. She is very knowledgable about the area and the people there. She is very difficult to get hold of, it took me a week, but it's worth it when you do. Her number is (918) 696-7577. She is also on a website, but I can't remember for sure, but I think it was the Adair County OK/IT page at www.usgenweb.com Hope this helps a little more!
