Hi! I show William Hess as being born in MO, and the 1900 census shows his father as being born in IN, and his mother as being born in MO. The 1900 census (Pulaski Co., MO) shows his birth year as 1868, although my records show it as 1867. Mary --- [email protected] wrote: > Is your Hess connected to the Hess' that came from > Arkansas? Hope this goes the right direction. I have a brick wall with this family. My grandmother, Viola Irving, parents William & Heneretta Oakley Irving, is my brick wall. I can not find her till 1899 when she married my grandfather, John Deurelle Watkins in Muskogee, Ok. I.T. Her parents, brothers & sisters are on the Cherokee Rolls. Her mother is listed as an adopted white. I think William Irving was her step father & the children were half brothers & sisters. I have a track on the family of John Deurelle Watkins from Samantha, Tuscaloosa Co., Ala. John had an oil business in Muskogee and a taxi business in Braggs. He was a carpenter, stone mason & a jack of all trades. I am told he was on the school board in Braggs. He died in 1921 from cancer. Viola dies in 1835 from TB. They lived in Muskogee when he died and Viola moved back to Braggs. They are both buried in South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs. Would love to hear from someone that knows something about my family. It appears that most people on this mailing list do not know what should be in the Subject Line. I have received over 75 messages with the Subject - Muskogee City Directory and only a few are to do with the Muskogee City Directory. You can still use the reply and change the Subject line. It is easy to click on Subject line, delete what is there and put new information where the old stuff was. Most all Mailing List that I belong to, ask that the Subject line contain Surnames that are included in the message. The Subject line should contain information that pertains to the content of the message. If you put the Subject of your posting in the Subject Line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. If you get hundreds of E-mails each day, the proper Subject Line helps to know whether to read the message or delete it. If you want only one person to know what's in the message, then send it privately to that one person. But, if you want to share, then, PLEASE, put Surnames in the Subject line or identify content clearly. Thanks for your consideration, Kathryn

Sue, Maybe there is a marriage for Annie (Barnett) Girty/Bird & John Green Smith abt. 1910. Their son Clarence Smith was born Feb 6, 1911, Muskogee Co, OK. Or possibly an obit for Annie Smith as I'm suspecting she may have died in childbirth with Clarence Smith, because he was raised by his half brother Jep Bird. Also, I know Charles Richard Bird died in 1899. Are the Bird's you are finding too many to list? As I know there were several in the area. If you do remember who the other researcher's who are searching the Bird name, I would greatly appreciate it if you would give them my email address so I might talk to them. A big "Thanks" for your help ! Ralph; I know right where that school is located. I went to school at Mt. Grove and we played softball at Conley School. I think Cartha Johnson was one of the teachers at that time.
