The Rev. Gerald Stevens officiated at his funeral services in Krien Funeral Home Chapel on Oct. 18, and he was buried at Hennepin. Martin was born Jan. 24, 1936, at Clincho, Va., to Arthur and Maggie Martin. He lived in Oklahoma most of his life and served in the U.S. Army in Germany, where he helped design and build roads. He was awarded a medal for Soldier of the Year during his time of service. He was employed with Broce Construction as a foreman at its asphalt plant. His survivors include his wife, Betty June (Trout) Martin of the home; eight daughters, Nicola Lynn Gilbert of Hennepin, Valorie Garrison, Kentucky, Diane Klohn of Union City, Karen Dixon, Becky Smith and Norma McCallen, all of Elk City, and Pam Young and Terry Laws, both of Chickasha; three sons, James Douglas Martin Jr., Kentucky and Pete and Paul McCallen, a brother, two sisters, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
