Tingle Bentley, 98, were held Monday, Oct. 14 at 3:00 p.m. at the Roff First Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Brady officiating. Interment was at the East Hill Cemetery, Roff under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home. She was born on August 14, 1904 at Valdosta, Texas to Edward Pinkney Tingle and Ida Hughes Tingle. She died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Arbuckle Hospital in Sulphur. On May 22, 1927 she married Clayton Bentley in Ada. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1988. She graduated from Roff High School in 1922 and from East Central University in 1928 with a degree in Home Economics. She then graduated from Oklahoma A & M with a master degree in Home Economics, majoring in foods, nutrition and institutional administration. She taught Home Economics at Connors State College at Warner for five years, returning to Oklahoma A & M to be dietitian for the WAVES during WWII. She later became a dietitian at Muskogee Veterans Hospital for 25 years, until retirement. She was a member of the Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, member of Soroptimists of American, member of the American Association of University Women, the Rose Unit of Ada Garden Club, Extension Homemakers and the Retired Teachers' Association. She is survived by one brother, Ed Tingle, Roff; two nephews, Edward Price Tingle, Roff and Charles Ray Tingle, Sulphur. Pallbearers were Gary Tingle, Tommy Joe Tingle, Edward Price Tingle, B.J. Smart and Jimmy Jo Tingle.
