The family bible is a good start, baptisimal records, school recods, military records, etc. There were census of the white and black people in Indian Territory. I included the 1860 census of Ft. Arbuckle, when I wrote my book on the history of the old post, which showed the civilian population of whites and blacks. No Indians were included in this census. But the name of the census was "lands west of Arkansas", Chickasaw Nation, Pickens District. So it is out there you just have to use some creative thing to find it. Dennis
