Willard McCartney, Jr. and Rev. Allen Richardson officiating. Interment was at the Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Mr. Atchley was born on Monday, Sept. 11, 1922 in Coyle to James Benjamin Atchley and Margaret Kennedy Atchley. He died Wednesday, Jan. 22 in Sulphur. On October 11, 1941 he married Janettie Irene Haney in Sulphur. He grew up in the Chigley and Joy areas, where he attended school. He lived most his life in the Sulphur area. He was a retired lumberyard foreman and also had worked as a summer employee at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. He was Veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy. He is survived by his wife, Irene Atchley, Sulphur; two daughters, Joyce Doggett and her husband, Cy, Ardmore, Ellouise Bumpass and her husband, Jerry, Sulphur; one son, Jimmy Atchley, Sulphur; a son-in-law, Bobby Shepard, Sulphur; a sister, Vera Johnson, Bellingham, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, a son, Charles, and a daughter, Christine Shepard. Pallbearers were Randy Holland, Jerry John Bumpass, Ralph Holland, Jason Boelte, Tracy Sanders, John Habager. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Holland, and Leroy Holland.
