Services were held at the Church of Christ in Sulphur on Jan. 19, 2003, and he was buried at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Baum. Collins was born Nov. 30, 1921, at Baum and died Jan. 16 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital. His parents were Jesse Homer and Velma "Myrl" (Sampley) Collins. He graduated from Dixon High School and was self-employed as a carpenter and building contractor. He lived in Oklahoma until his induction into the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Collins and Connie Treece were married July 29, 1940, at Ada, and they lived for the most part in Washington state and California. He retired from Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., and they returned to Oklahoma in 1985. He was a member of the Church of Christ. His survivors include: his mother; three daughters, Betty Lou Perez of Downey, Calif., Tricia Lee Welch of Boise, Idaho, and Jackie Faye Adamson of Sherman, Texas; a brother, Billy Gene Collins of Grants Pass, Ore.; three sisters, Bernice West and Theda Fincher, both of Sulphur, and Doris Stoltzfus of Denver, Colo., 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Gloria Sue Jacintho; a sister, Lawana Dease, and his father. Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
