We think that H.H. Allen, the first mayor of the Davis Community is probably the Henry H. Allen that was from Schley Co. GA. We feature some letters from Indian Territory and an early description of live in Davis. See http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaschley/migrate.htm#indian I seek more information on him and hope we can connect to some of the family. Harris Hill Virginia Crilley
From "Murray County, Oklahoma In the Heart of Eden" by Opal Hartsell Brown - Copyright 1977 Nortex Press Wichita Falls, TX. Page 99 paragraph states: "Davis is near Sulphur Springs, quite a noted health resort ten miles from the railroad. The town was incorporated in 1898 with the following officers: H.H. Allen, mayor; L.M. Frame, clerk; S.H. Davis, treasurer; T.W. Pool, marshall." This book is out of print but the libraries in Davis and Sulphur have copies, I believe. There could be a history of the Allen family in it. The book has histories of many of the early families in the area. I don't have the entire book, just copies of the pages dealing with my family. I noticed your inquiry because my grandfather, D.F. Ellis, was listed as one of the committee members with H.H. Allen in the book "Davis". Hope this helps. David F.
