Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born Oct. 8, 1911, in Sulphur to Wesley Ewing and Minnie Elizabeth Perry Carr, she died Sept. 6, 2002, in Ardmore. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Lee Matteson. She had lived in the area all of her life, graduating from Fitzhugh High School and the University of Oklahoma. She was a National Spelling Bee Queen. She had been a secretary for Standard Life Insurance Company in Oklahoma City. She was a member of the Historical Society, Flower Club and First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Henrietta Davis, Baton Rouge, La., and Elizabeth Gee, Anaheim, Calif.; and two brothers, Wesley E. Carr Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, and George Carr, Anaheim. Bearers are Scott Cottrell, Matthew Christofferson, Steven Deaton, Christopher Hampton, Michael Mendoza and Justus Swigart. Honorary bearers are Danny McNiel, Cayce Harper, Shawn Reeves and Michael Collins II.
