I have now found the obit of Don Alphonso BRITTENBURG aka COURTNEY who was buried in Greenhill Cemetery 11-21-1923 and his second wife, Lourinda A. MARTIN BRITTENBURG who died 1938 that states she is buried in Greenhill Cemetery. The problem is that I and other relatives have looked for them in Greenhill and they aren't listed, also walked this cemetery looking for them but nothing. Does anyone have any ideas on other records that could exist on them in order to locate them? firegrl@sierratel.com http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/r/e/Candace-L-Gregory/
The cemetery records for Greenhill for this time period are gone. The local funeral home was very meticulous. They kept three copies of the cemetery records. Problem was they kept them in the same building and they all burned. Well, at least it is reassuring that so many copies were kept of the cemetery records. Dennis, I truly apreciate your sense of humour. ;) -------Original Message------- From: OKMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com Date: Saturday, September 14, 2002 07:55:56 PM To: OKMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OKMURRAY] Lost Graves in Greenhill Cemetery The cemetery records for Greenhill for this time period are gone. Hello Candace.....I don't know if this will help you, however, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur I couldn't find the grave of my husbands grandfather. All paper said he was there. I was lucky enough to have a elder family member that remembered the service. He was buried at his father's feet, no marker except a small flat stone. Long gone now.
