Cook officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born February 14, 1920 in Sulphur to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred J. Ashton, Sr. He died August 29, 2002. On November 29, 1942 at Albuquerque, N.M. he married Margarette (Peggy) Green. He moved to Lawton in 1964 and worked for Rhoads and Cocke Law Firm before beginning law practice with his son in 1972 at the law firm later to become Ashton, Ashton, Wisener and Munkacsy. He graduated high school in Sulphur and received an LLB degree from the OU Law School in 1948. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1948 and was also admitted to the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in 1964 after 20 years of service having achieved the rank of Colonel. He served with 8th Air force during World War II as a bombardier in England and later as a staff judge advocate. His awards include several air force commendation medals, the National Defense Service medal and the Air Defense Service medal. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ashton, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Ashton, Lawton; three granddaughters, Kathryn Carlson and her husband, Steve, Hillary Ashton and Courtney Ashton, all of Colorado Springs, Co.; a great granddaughter, Alexis Carlson Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
