From "Murray County, Oklahoma In the Heart of Eden" by Opal Hartsell Brown - Copyright 1977 Nortex Press Wichita Falls, TX. Page 99 paragraph states: "Davis is near Sulphur Springs, quite a noted health resort ten miles from the railroad. The town was incorporated in 1898 with the following officers: H.H. Allen, mayor; L.M. Frame, clerk; S.H. Davis, treasurer; T.W. Pool, marshall." This book is out of print but the libraries in Davis and Sulphur have copies, I believe. There could be a history of the Allen family in it. The book has histories of many of the early families in the area. I don't have the entire book, just copies of the pages dealing with my family. I noticed your inquiry because my grandfather, D.F. Ellis, was listed as one of the committee members with H.H. Allen in the book "Davis". Hope this helps. David F. From Davis Oklahoma, edited by Theresa Gabel, 1981 H. H. Allen is mentioned in a section titled, "History of the Masonic Lodge of Davis" by Janice Davis Francis. (page 228) "On April 1, 1899, the committee on "Building and Procuring a Lodge Room" consisting of D.F. Ellis, V.P. Kelley and H.H Allen, reported they had jointly, with the Royal Arch Masons, bought the hall over the bank (The Farmer's Bank, on the northwest corner of Main and Fourth streets). The total price was $500. One-half this amount was to be paid by the Lodge. The Lodge met in this location until it built a Lodge Room at 203 No. 2nd St., Davis Oklahoma. This building was dedicated July 4, 1963." I found no other entries related to this gentleman. The only reference to H. H. Allen that I can find in Theresa Gabel's book, "Davis, Oklahoma" is on page 228. It is in a section on the Masonic Lodge of Davis written by Janice Davis Francis. The paragraph containing his name is as follows: "On April 1, 1889, the committee on "Building and Procuring a Lodge Room" consisting of D. F. Ellis, V. P. Kelley and H. H. Allen, reported they had jointly, with the Royal Arch Masons, bought the hall over the bank (The Farmer's Bank, on the northwest corner of Main and Fourth streets). The total price was $500. What cemeteries are in Davis? Are any of them on-line? We're looking for the burial spot for H.H. Allen, the first mayor of the Davis Community. Harris Hill Virginia Crilley

Would appreciate any information, especially Mattie's full name and where she is buried. Her maiden name was Richardson or Richerson, she was born in Tennessee, and had a sister named Anne. Anne was said to be married to an Indian man whose name was Gardner. My mother always called her "Aunt Dude" and they were said to be "well-off".
The 1910 Census for Mill Creek, Johnston County, OK is now up and running at this link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okmurray/Resources/census_of_murray_county.htm Although I am the CC for Murray County, I have a lot of relatives who lived in this area before Statehood in the 1880's and '90's. The registry for the "New" Mill Creek Cemetery is online also as I have many relatives who are buried in that cemetery. There are photos of the cemetery also. The registry is at this link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okmurray/mucemregs.htm As I am not in the habit of doing other counties work for them I only did this for purely selfish reasons.
