Thanks Belinda but too late!! I guess we are related after all.I jumped the gun and sent it out before checking it out also............................ chuckle.. A good genealogy friend sent me the thanks.....then the truth. Sorry about the email. I should've checked it out myself! Belinda This is from hoaxbusters.com: Credit Info Opt Out Hoax September 2001 This hoax was started by someone who has confused some federal laws. A very nice explanation of the confusion and the laws is available on the Privacy Rights <http://www.privacyrights.org/ar/optout_truth.htm> Clearinghouse web site. First, companies have always been able to sell or give away information about you. A new law required companies to inform their customers as to what their privacy policies were by July 1, 2000. What they do with the information they collect from you must be disclosed in that policy. If you don't want them selling your personal information you must check each privacy policy for information on how to opt out or just not do business with them. The phone number given in the hoax is used by the major credit reporting bureaus to allow you to opt out from receiving pre-approved credit offers. That is, credit card companies buy credit reports on you and use them to send you credit card offers. Opting out stops these offers. A recent variant changed the date to July 1, 2001 and another changes it to July 1, 2002, and another changed it again to July 1, 2003. Looks like every year someone is going to change the date and send it again. How about sending it to the trash instead. There is also a warning <http://www.equifax.com/cons_srvs/consumer_alert.html> on the Equifax site about this hoax.

Dear List Members, I'm hoping to find some one in the Sulphur area who can help me with my research. I've done as much as I can from here inVirginia. I've tracked this family from Kentucky/Ohio, to Missouri to Oklahoma and Virginia but I'm always just a few years too late in finding them! I tried writing the Arbuckle Historical Society a few months ago but haven't heard anything from them. I'm looking for the Floyd and Fulton families. John F. Floyd (born MO) married Nettie Burk in Saline Co., MO. They moved to Oklahoma about 1903 with Nettie's widowed mother Cynthia S. Clendenin Burk, first going to Tecumseh, Pottawatomie and then on to Sulphur, Murray Co., OK by 1920 and staying there until their deaths. John Franklin Floyd died in 1951 and is buried in Oaksawn Cemetery in Sulphur. The rootsweb Murray Co. cemetery listing for Oaklawn says he was born 1869 but that is wrong. He was born 1865 and his wife was born 1869. I would like to find his wife's death/burial. I would imagine she is buried next to him in Oaklawn and the birth dates were mixed up. The local newspaper said there was no obit for John F. Floyd only a death notice. Could I please get some help with the date for Nettie Burk's death by either checking the gravestone itself in Oaklawn or give me the cemetery office address where I can write for the records? Margaret Fulton married Herbert Monroe Floyd, s/o the above John F. Floyd and Nettie Burk. They had one son, Herbert F. Floyd, about 1923 and they were divorced by 1930. Margaret Fulton Floyd and her son, Herbert were living in Oklahoma City in 1930. The Herbert M. Floyd went to Texas in 1930 and then later settled in Tulelake, California where he died in 1967. Margaret Fulton Floyd died 25 Dec 1979 and was then buried in Oaklawn, Sulphur, OK. She was the daugther of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Fulton and her two brothers were Robert Fulton of Sulphur and Warren Fulton of Tulsa. Her obituary says, Herbert was living in Alexandria, Fairfax Co., VA in 1979. I checked out the Alexandria telephone books and found Herbert F. Floyd listed there from 1979 until 1995. I can't find him since and he's not listed in the SSDI so I think he might still be alive. Anyone know the Fulton family of Sulphur? Lastly, I'm looking for Nettie Burk Floyd's mother (Cynthia S. Clendenin Burk) death and burial. Pottawatomie Co., OK doesn't have her death listed there and I know she was alive in 1910. She is not on the 1920 census with the Floyd family. Can someone check to see if she is buried possibly in the same plot in Oaklawn with John F. Floyd? Cynthia S. Clendenin Burk was born in 1843 in Warren Co., OH; she married Elisha Burk in 1861. Thanks for your help and any advice, Mary Louise Townsend Potomac Falls, VA
