Sarah died either in mid 50's or in 1962.

BEARD PASSES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS Mrs. Laura Beard, aged 75 years, pioneer Davis citizen, passed away Sunday morning after an illness of only 12 days. Creeping paralysis was given as the cause of her death. Funeral rites were held at her home Monday afternoon, with Rev. J.F. Crews officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetary beside her husband two children. Mrs. Laura Vergilia Beard, nee Brown, was born in Tennessee, Sept. 26, 1860. On Feb. 15, 1880, she married Geo. M. Beard, to which union 11 children were born, eight of whom are living, namely: Mrs. Laura Brown in California; Mrs. Ervin Harmon, Davis; Mrs. P.O. Starks, Fort Worth; Mrs. Susie Blocker, Sulphur, Okla; Jake Beard, Salinas, Cal.; Bill Beard, Beebe, Okla., and Frank Beard, Davis. Leaving Tennessee Mrs. Beard and husband lived in North Texas many years, coming to Davis before statehood. AFter the death of her husband in 1913 she went to California and lived several years. Mr. Bivins was born September 25, 1913 in Foster to Henry Dexter and Mary Ann (Bass) Bivins. He died June 19, 2003 in Wynnewood. Dink was raised near Foster and attended school in Pernell. In 1933 he married Irene Dickson. She preceded him in death. In 1960 he married Pauline Spears and she preceded in him death in 2000. Dink was an oil field worker until his retirement in 1972. He loved his family, dancing, horses and cattle. He was an avid roper. Dink is survived by his children; Rex Bivins and his wife, Mary, Denton, Tex., Roger Bivins, Purcell, Alice Kennedy and Raymond, Purcell, and Kay Morgan and Aaron, Branson, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and one sister, Eron Hyslip, Oklahoma City. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Mug and one sister, Jane Hodges. Pallbearers were Brett Kennedy, Michael Morgan, Mark Morgan, Robbie Bivins, Sam Bivins and Josh Gandy. The family bible is a good start, baptisimal records, school recods, military records, etc. There were census of the white and black people in Indian Territory. I included the 1860 census of Ft. Arbuckle, when I wrote my book on the history of the old post, which showed the civilian population of whites and blacks. No Indians were included in this census. But the name of the census was "lands west of Arkansas", Chickasaw Nation, Pickens District. So it is out there you just have to use some creative thing to find it. Dennis

Steve Martin officiating and Pastor Tim Emons assisting. He was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Davis to Roy C. and Lavada (Rushing) Oakley and died June 7, 2003, at his home. He attended first grade at Valley Brook Elementary in Oklahoma City and attended and graduated from Davis High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served one tour in Korea. In 1958, he graduated from Murray State College in Tishomingo and completed his education of mortuary science at Gupton Jones College in Dallas, Texas. Oakley continued his education at Central State University, East Central University and the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his master's degree in education. His first teaching position was at Truman Elementary in Oklahoma City in 1970; from 1973 to 1984, he was elementary principal with the Prague Independent School District. In 1992, Oakley finished his career at Spark's Independent School District as superintendent and was a lifelong educator for the state of Oklahoma. He was a lifelong member of Capitol Hill Church of Chri! st in Oklahoma City and a member of American Legion Post 11 in Prague. He was preceded in death by his parents. Oakley is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Wanda Jo; two sons, Royce of Prague and Roger of Pottsboro, Texas; a daughter, Karen Duncan of Yukon; a sister, Murlene Lewis of Oklahoma City, and eight grandchildren, Laura, Royden, Stephanie, Garen, Jaimie, Katelyn, Rachel and Ansleigh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Post 11 in Prague. Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by three brothers, Bill James, Choctaw, Jesse James, Jr., Oklahoma City and Bob James, Teague, Texas; four sisters, Bea Allmon, Sulphur, Geneva Herndon, Ardmore, Katherine Foster, Oklahoma City and Betty Rose, Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd James.
