She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bert Williams, Sr., and two sisters, Vera Jordan and Leona Patterson. Exa was born on May 10, 1915, to Jack and Margaret Chaffin, of Murray County. After graduating from Sulphur High School, she later married R.W. Webb on July 5, 1934. She worked as a secretary at the Murray County Courthouse from 1962 until her retirement in 1980. For 71 years, she was a member of the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur, of which her parents had been charter members, and where both her father and husband had served as elders. During most of her adult life, she, herself, was active as a Bible-school teacher and church volunteer. In addition to church work, her favorite hobby was cooking for her family and friends. After her move to Tulsa, she attended the Garnett Church of Christ, where she became a member of the "Daughters of Anna" widow's group. In May 2002, she won the "Mother of the Year" Award at the Manor Care Health Center where she currently resided before her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margaret Chaffin; two brothers, Lloyd and Larry Chaffin; her sister, Avis Wommack; her husband, R.M. Webb; a great-grandson, Chace Deen; and her oldest daughter, Shirley Bennett. Hello All; Several weeks ago I posted a new article on the pioneer schools of Murray County along with the location and some of the first teachers. I just discovered that the link was not working. I have corrected this and apologize for the problem.
