Oooooh. I hope this is the one. It sounds like a real possibility though. In old letters, there are several references to the boys at the HEALY ranch, kind of remembering old times with them. I hadn't had a chance to pull the census but do remember on the 1930 that the neighbors had a "town feel" to them by their occupations. I will be back there in a few weeks and am more than happy to stomp through whatever is there, as long as someone scares the snakes away. ---- Original Message ---- From: mudman@cableone.net To: OKMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OKMURRAY] Dick BLYTHE, b1864 TN on 1930 Murray Co., >Census Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 18:00:58 -0500 >Candace, >By Jove, I think I bloody well got it!!! > >There is a cemetery on the Healy Brothers Ranch that is sort of lost. >Barbara Giddens and I went down the creek two years ago looking for >this >cemetery and we never found it. Candace, By Jove, I think I bloody well got it!!! There is a cemetery on the Healy Brothers Ranch that is sort of lost. Barbara Giddens and I went down the creek two years ago looking for this cemetery and we never found it. The ice storm had made it as dangerous as could be. There were dangling tree limbs overhead and swayed in the wind just trying to hit us in the head. We KNOW it is there but nobody will take us there. Many report to have seen it in the winter when the leaves have fallen. The cemetery is small and sits on a creek bottom. It is close to the old Dolese Brothers Rayford Quarry and just about in Skip Healey's front yard give or take a thousand acres. Bo Saunders who lives in Davis was a foreman for Dolese Bros. and has told me on many occasions that he has plainly seen the cemetery, in the winter, on the west side of the creek. This is the only cemetery in Allen TWP that I have not been able to find. This has to be Walnut Cemetery, just has to be. This cemetery is about 4 miles south of Davis! It is the one I referred to as "The Hampton Graves" since it has no name. Allen Twp. is the area between Davis and Dougherty. The only other cemetery in Allen Twp. is the James Cemetery and it is a black cemetery and online. This morning after I sent the email about a new plan of attack, I called the 90 year old lady in Davis and asked her if she remembered the Blythe family. She told me the g-granddaughter of Dick worked at a gift shop in Davis so I made contact with her. I made a run to Ardmore today to pick up a load of paint and stopped in Davis and talked to the g-grand daughter of Dick Blythe himself. I also found out that Dick Blythe lived one block south of the red light in Davis across the street west from the First Baptist Church and the house is still there. How 'bout them apples! The granddaughter told me he did not own a farm south of Davis, he only rented one. This is a lot of stuff for now but I believe that the cemetery that I have been calling the "Hampton graves" for 3 years may very well be the Walnut Cemetery. Now I can get us within a 1/4 mile of it - all we have to do is wade through hip-deep rattlesnakes to find it!!! I'll keep you informed. You may already know this. There is a section on the J. R. (Dick) Blythe family in the book Davis, Oklahoma edited by Theresa Gable. It includes a picture of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Blythe with Pearl and Tom in 1894. You may be able to get the book from the Arbuckle Historical Society in Davis. Candace, I had an idea. If you could make a list of the census of 1930 containing the surnames of the 10 families listed immediately before the BLYTHE household and the 10 families immediately after the Blythe surname, we may be able to go to the county court house and find the land records for some of these people in the old books. It will not hurt to ask some oldtimers around Davis if they remember where the Blythe family lived. I know one lady who is 90 and lived in Davis all her life and may have known them. She in fact did know Sam Davis and played with his children. I'll give this route a go and see what it turns up. Don't forget to make the list of surnames and email it to me. Since census takers went in a line down the road we may zero in on this family yet. There may still be someone living on their old land in Allen township. Dennis; Thank you so much for your help on this. I am at work, but when I get home tonight, I will pull the census and get it to you. I'm not sure this is the correct BLYTHE family that had the land, but they are old timers in Davis. SInce MAry Ann died in Davis, it can't be too far from there. I figure there is a possibility that this cemetery may be one that has been somewhat lost or not captured. . .or under water. ---- Original Message ---- From: mudman@cableone.net To: OKMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com, Subject: Re: [OKMURRAY] Dick BLYTHE, b1864 TN on 1930 Murray Co., Census Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 08:38:31 -0500 >Candace, >I had an idea. Some time ago I received an email asking about the great tornado that hit Murray County in 1916 killing most of the Alex Edgmon family. It is truly a tragic story. Here is what I have found. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okmurray/stories/tornado_of_1916.htm Have a good week and stay cool, Dennis

A cousin told that she interviewed a cousin who said that there was a rancher named BLYTHE (pronounced Bly) and his place was where Mary Anne was buried. This cousin visited the gravesite in the 40s and Mr. BLYTHE took her out in the field by a big tree and showed her the grave and it had a headstone that John PRATER had ordered and paid for according to Mr.BLYTHE. According to my cousin, she thought John PRATER had bought Mary Ann's stone the same time as he bought the ones for Ann DENT and Zack MOORE (1925). Mary Ann died 1911. I also did a query on the BLYTHE name on this site and the obit of Sade Grace MALONE came up, which listed a Jessie BLYTHE of Antler as her ggg-grandmother. Perhaps someone can help me put togehter these pieces of the puzzle?
