Services were Sept. 1 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Checotah followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Smith’s Funeral Home. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Morgan and Lorene Emerson of Checotah, Jerry and Jana E erson of Checotah, and Johnny and Robin Emerson of Broken Arrow; four daughters and their husbands, Betty and Clayton McNeely of Eufaula, Ann and Whitey McAdoo, Sue and Danny Brinsfield, and Janice and Verny Clark all of Checotah; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Deward Emerson of Checotah and a sister, Nellie Young of New Mexico.
