Funeral services were Dec 6 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Checotah followed by burial in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Checotah. Survivors include five sons and their wives, Donald and Peggy Winkle of Great Falls, MT, Everett and Mary Winkle of Bakersfield, CA, Eddy and Carol Winkle and Bobby and Irene Winkle all of Checotah, and Stanley Winkle of Eufaula; three daughters and their husbands, Thelma and Edd Helton, Donna and Charles Wilson all of Checotah, Phyliss and Jim Hisely of Warner; one sister, Hazel Sullivan of Shawnee, eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 27, 1985; four brothers, Hubert, Harry, Homer and Herman Winkle; one sister, Faye Clement and one son-in-law, Donald Beaver.
