Melissa Oneta Martin Melissa Oneta Martin, 91 of Onapa went to be with the Lord Sunday Feb 6, 2005 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am, Thursday Feb 10, 2005 at the Onapa Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Richard Ford. Burial was followed in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Checotah. She was born Sept 13, 1913 in Checotah to Lawrence and Abbie (Chapman) Guinn. Oneta was the last of eleven siblings. She was a member of the Onapa Baptist Church and made Onapa her home, most of her 91 years. She was very active in her church, a good neighbor, and a good friend to all. She will be missed. She participated in all civic and community activities, but still had time to enjoy her favorite past time (FISHING). She is survived by one daughter Margaret Hammons and her husband, Veryl of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren; Gary and Doug Hammons of Oklahoma City, Mike Herron of Tulsa and Lettitia Herron of Glenpool, four great-grandchildren; Russell Hammons of Oklahoma City, Chris Herron of Sacramento, CA., Nicole and Melissa Herron of Bartlesville, one son-in-law, Tom Leake of Tulsa, many nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russell, one daughter Mary Ann Leake, two brothers and eight sisters.
