Muskogee Daily Phoenix March 30, 2005 VENUS VERONA DUNLAP 1922-2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Venus Verona Roulston was born July 12, 1922 in Haskell County, Oklahoma, the seventh of eight children born to Guy Luther and Anna Belle (Rainwater) Roulston. She died Friday, March 25, 2005 in Muskogee. She attended elementary school near Checotah in McIntosh County and graduated from Council Hill High School in 1941. She helped her parents on the farm until she attended Western Union Trade School in Springfield, Missouri. After graduation (during World War II), Venus worked for Western Union in Muskogee and Okmulgee. During this time, she met and married John Derwood Dunlap April 5, 1945 and they were later blessed with two children. Mrs. Dunlap loved studying the Bible and taught Sunday School in Dardanelle, Arkansas; Muskogee, Bristow, and Porum, Oklahoma. She was a longtime member of the Porum Assembly of God Church and attended Lighthouse Assembly Church the last few years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Tommy Thompson of Muskogee; her son John Dunlap II of Porum; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and her sister Verlon Lane of Borger, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Dunlap, February 2, 1992. A funeral service for Mrs. Dunlap will be held today, Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Reverend Stan Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula, Oklahoma with Rocky Dunlap, Chuck Dunlap, Keith Dunlap, Robby Dunlap, Jerrel Dunlap and Ronnie Dunlap serving as pallbearers.
