Posted on: Mcintosh County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Mcintosh/500 Surname: ------------------------- Peggy: In answer to your inquiry to McIntosh County, I noticed that I had not copied the complete article from the Indian Journal on the toronado at Hanna May 1936. My computer is locked up so I went to the library today and copied the newspaper article again. I had checked several cemeteries but could not find where your Reeves' were buried. The newspaper article was continued on to the back page of the paper and as I was scrolling over to it I saw the heading of an article "HANNA NEWS". I hit pay dirt there. A paragraph in that article stated: "The funeral services for Mrs Reeves, the only victim of the storm to die, were held Sunday. Burial was in the Hillaby cemetery." The newspaper comes out weekly on Thursday and the date on the paper was May 14, 1936. The toronado was the previous Friday making it May 8 when your great grandmother was injured and May 9 when she died. The Hillaby cemetery is on private property now, east of Hanna, but the owner does not mind us visiting the cemetery. As soon as the weather cools off I will go to that cemetery and see if I can find a headstone for your grandparents. If you would like to have the information I copied, please send me your mailing address. If my computer was working I could scan it and send it with the e-mail. I am using my husband's computer and he does not have a scanner. Melva Best
