Posted on: Mcintosh County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Mcintosh/489 Surname: ------------------------- Peggy have I replied to you on a previous McIntosh county inquiry about the Anthony and Hull families of Hanna? There has never been a funeral home in Hanna. Those too poor to use a funeral home were usually buried in a pine box made at the Hanna Lumber Yard. Have you checked out the death notices on the McIntosh County web site? They have a listing from the Kelley Funeral Home that goes back a long way and they were the only funeral home in Eufaula for a long time. I also have newspaper articles about the toronado that were copied from microfilm. My husband's grandmother was injured in that toronado. The toronado in Hanna was in 1936. I was only 5 years old but I remember it well. I am out of state right now but will start back to Oklahoma tomorrow. I will contact you again when we get back to Eufaula. In the meantime I would suggest looking at the death notices. I don't believe Eufaula ever had a hospital so your ggrandmother may have died in Henryetta, Okmulgee county, which was the closest place with a hospital. Also, have you checked the cemetery listings for mcintosh county? A large number of cemeteries have been inventoried and placed on the McIntosh county web site, including Hanna,Eufaula and Checotah. I remember a John Reeves who carried the mail from Eufaula to Hanna and also had a rural mail delivery route during the 1940s and 1950s. Hope this gives you some leads and I will be in contact later.
