Lee Carter served as clerk of Eufaula from 1923 to 1931 and his brother served as treasurer from 1927 to 1951 a DanCarter. Lee is my grandfather and I am inquiring if as clerk did he have a dual role as a deputy sheriff? I do know that he also was a deputy in McIntosh Co., can anyone tell me the dates ? Were these full time jobs or would they have also been engaged in another occupation? Their other brother was Layton Carter who was an educator for many years in Eufaula, can anyone tell me where Layton taught school? I am also interested in Carters Corner as this was the homesite of my great grandfather JW (Jim) Carter who was in IT at least by 1899 with the birth of one of his daughters Ollie Carter.
