    2. A lot of folks left OK after the during the depression and the dust bowl era. My family left during the time of the Dust Bowl. Many settled in Bakersfield, CA and around Phoenix area of AZ. There was a lot more opportunities that could be found at that time in those places. My father and mother came to Bakersfield to take care of his grandma Letha Sumpter Eoff Williams. When she went to the nursing home they worked the fields. They left CA in the 1950s for Oregon and here they stayed. We still have family from both sides of our family tree that live around Bakersfield area. I enjoyed reading about the Indian women. There is so much about history that can be found when researching for our ancestors it amazes me at every turn. Good luck in your research.
