Morton on April 19, 1935 at Hitchita, and died Wednesday Nov 19, 2003 in Muskogee. Funeral services were Nov 25 at Elm Grove Baptist Church followed by burial at the Hitchita-Lackey Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Checotah. Survivors include one son, Howard Lackey and his wife Gemey of Morris; one daughter, Carolyn Rainwater of Checotah; one brother, Joe VanTuyl of Bixby; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2001; two sons, an infant and George R. Lackey in 1977; and one sister, Margaret Young this year.
