The cemetery books were rewritten and some info was lost in the process. The cemetery is on line at usgenweb McIntosh Co., site but they didn't add the sextants records so are missing people buried there. Your best bet is to call the mortuarys listed on line for McIntosh Co., They are very nice to help you if you can give a date of death. You can call any funeral home in town and they can give you the sextants phone number. He has helped me and is Very Very Nice. I think his name is Ernie. The cemetery is at Checotah City, I believe.

    1. Re: [OKMCINTO] Ancestry to begin charging for One World Tree
    2. Hello all, For any of you who think the email in regard to charging for use of Ancestry's New World Tree I think you should go to the ancestry.com website and look under the tab Family Trees, One World Tree is new. Furthermore before submitting your family tree to their website I suggest you visit Ancestry's agreement, URL provided below. Anything you submit becomes their property to do as they see fit with it. Linda was only doing the same as posters on a great deal of other lists were doing and this is forewarning the public of the future charges by ancestry. Beings ancestry is an E-Business they are constantly looking for more revenue streams and they just found a gold mine. 2. Linda Haas Davenport
    3. If you have submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com's OneWorldTree site, you need to be aware of a change about to be implemented by Ancestry. Family Trees uploaded to the OneWorldTree site, which have been free heretofore, will be moved into a subscription data base. After approximately May 21st this data base will no longer be accessible for free. Ancestry will be begin offering OneWorldTree Preview at $49.95 for 14 months for access to these donated trees. If you'd prefer that your information not be sold, there is a link below which will take you to a set of instructions on opting out by deleting your tree. Go first here: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/ When you arrive at the page - look for the link toward the top "What's a preview?" Read the information and then click on "View our checklist" (which appears on #3). On the page is a statement that says "If for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of the new OneWorldTree service, you must delete it from the Ancestry World Tree database by tentatively May 21, 2004." Click on the link "Deleting a tree you submitted" The resulting page gives instructions on how to delete your tree. Feel free to pass this along to other lists. 1. New Veterans Affairs web site and cemetery locator
    2. Linda Haas Davenport
    3. VA has made it easier and faster for the public to get answers about family history, old war buddies or famous war heroes. The agency put on the Web 3.2 million records for veterans buried at 120 national cemeteries since the Civil War. The VA's Nationwide Gravesite Locator, at http://www.cem.va.gov, also has records for some state veterans cemeteries and burials in Arlington National Cemetery since 1999. Joe Nosari, VA's deputy chief information officer for Memorial Affairs, said the records used to be on paper and microfilm. Private companies have put some of the information online and charged for it, but the VA information is free, he said. Naporlee, of Spokane, Wash., also learned her grandfather served with the Army's 161 DB unit, enlisting June 24, 1918. He was honorably discharged December 17, 1918. The VA's gravesite navigator includes names, dates of birth and death, military service dates, service branch and rank if known, cemetery information and grave location in the cemetery. The VA will withhold some information, such as next of kin, for privacy purposes. The site will be updated daily. Annually, about 80,000 veterans are buried at national cemeteries. The VA also hopes to add records for veterans whose families requested grave markers from the VA. Those markers may go to private cemeteries or cemeteries overseas. Search site http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1 This site was really busy yesterday and people reported it timed out off and on.
