South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; [email protected] and ; [email protected] I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jerri Chasteen <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 22:33:42 -0800 Subject: Update- "Happy99" virus Message-ID: <[email protected]> Thought I would let everyone know-- I received an e-mail today with an attachment that said "Happy99.exe". Needless to say- I did not open the .exe file and I sent it to a safe place to be forwarded to the proper authorities. For new subscribers or those who missed my first warning, this is a REAL virus warning, but it cannot be sent to you through a Rootsweb mail list. It must be sent as an attached file, and the Rootsweb system will not post a message to a mail list containing an attachment. You may want to read more about this worm/virus at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/happy99.worm.html or http://www.datafellows.com/v-descs/ska.htm One person gave a vivid example of his resolve to NEVER open an .exe attachment to an e-mail- He said that although he was Catholic, he wouldn't open one if it was sent by the Pope! As for myself, even if it is sent to me by a friend or family member-- do I REALLY know exactly where they got it? I explain to those who send me an attachment containing an ".EXE" file that if they want me to look at material, then either send it (printed) though the mail or put it on a web page and furnish me with the web address! This is not to alarm you, but I just wanted you to know that it IS being circulated! jc List Owner ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. The information about the FHL going online, is confusing and not accurate. People are misunderstanding what the BYU article said and what is meant by "files" in this this story's context. The "files" are reference to AncestralFile -- not the actual files (microfilmed records). There are rumors that the FHL Catalog will be put online -- perhaps this year, but I have not been able to get confirmation of that. Most of the records at the FHL (and thus via the FHCs) are in microform -- film and fiche -- and probably will be that for some time. Subject: Sacagawea Coin I am sure that Lewis and Clark were quite aware of the value of their friend, Sacagawea, on the trip to the west coast. Remembering that it was Sacagawea, girl of 16, with an infant on her back, who interpreted and aided the possibly otherwise ill-fated expedition of Lewis & Clark to the Pacific Coast, I recommend visiting the US Mint Page and voting for your favorite view of the new coin. The address to view the choices for the new $1 coin are with the US Mint Page at: http://www.usmint.gov/dollarcoin/finalist_home.cfm I personally like the view #99, and also recommend reading the site: (This page gives valuable background to the little known life of Sacawea, from the pages of Lewis' Journal.) http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Hall/9626/NativeAmericans.html Karla Shahan [email protected] >============== >I get by with a little help from my friends. > .... As you all probably know there aren't a many McIntosh County Cemeteries that have been indexed. As far as I know we have all the available records on-line at http://www.chickasaw.com/~ronglong/MENU.HTM We have absolutely no information on many of the cemeteries in the county. Until full listings of the remaining cemeteries can be made, I'd like to maintain a partial listings in order to put researchers together. If anyone has information on persons buried in cemeteries in McIntosh County that we don't have indexed, please send the information to me at [email protected] I'll add them to the listings we have along with the contributor's email address and name. That way when a cousin finds a relative in the cemetery listing he'll also be able to contact the person who contributed the information. -- Ron & Elaine Long; Ada, OK http://www.chickasaw.com/~ronglong
