The Tulsa World said that two tornados hit Checotah... and a housing community near the lake was badly damaged... Any first hand reports? There is a courthouse in Checotah isn't there? Karla

There is no courthouse in Checotha. The courthouse is in Eufaula. There was a lot of damage in Onapa a small town between Checotha and Eufaula. Mary

My grandfather b. 1905 was named Jackson (I can't be sure whether it is in honor of Andrew or Stonewall as my ancestors were all diehard Southerners) and a distant cousin was actually named General Jackson!

Just as we have seen that the initials L.D. might have originated with Lorenzo Dow, the Methodist (?) Preacher, is there a background to the initial T.J.? Was there a person of notability to whom these initials are attributed? [email protected]
