This week I found a hand written certificate appointing my husband's grandfather deputy sheriff for McCurtain County. "This is to certify that I have this the 20th day of November, 1923, appointed Quinton Young duputy sheriff in and for McCurtain County Okla. to act in such capacity until futher ordered by me to which I set my official hand this the 20th day of March A.D. 1923." JR Jones Sheriff of McCurtain Co. Okla. The dates entered above are as written. It is on official McCurtain County, Oklahoma letterhead listing J. R. Jones, Sheriff and C. R. Holman, Under Sheriff. We do not know how long Mr. Young served. Quinton's full name was Charles Quinton Young. Albert Young was my gg-gf. I'm not sure if he actually lived in McCurtain County, but some of his kids did. He was at least there in 1913 for a picture of his family to be taken. He was married twice. My g-gm Martha was from his first marriage. Among his children were Ellie, Jesse, Archie, Lena, Lawrence, Alice & Ethel. His 2nd wife was Martha Minerva. I don't know the name of his first wife. Ellie and Martha are children I know from his first wife. Do any of these look familiar.
