I don't know when I'll next be at the library, so I'll leave this information here. Vinegar Hill was a very remotely populated area in the old trade trails od McCurtain County. It still exists, but now only with the occasional rural residence. The mountain (if you can call it that) from which it got it's name is still called "Vinegar Hill" on some maps. It is located about 5 miles north of the Red River, and about 1/2 to 3/4 mile west of the Arkansas line. It is in the area of Walnut Bayou, southeast by east of Tom ... almost exactly half way between Hwy 3 and Hwy 87, and accessible only by a single county road. Hope this helps.
