I searched the micro-fiche files for newspaper obituaries for the entire of 1926 and failed to find mention of James Alexander Cocke. I did find a mention of him in the Rootsweb.com files, but it only makes an entry as being married to L.M.A. Goode (which is your Martha), and has information regarding Martha's lineage (to an extent). I noted that James Cocke was Martha's 2nd marriage ... first having been listed as to a Ballard. I went to the Goode Genealogy Forum, but saw that you had already posted there. I then went to the Cocke Forum and found a few clues. There are posts regarding a James Alexander Cocke (b. 1855 in MS) son of Samuel M. Cocke (1820 NC) and Darcus E. Festerman (NC) ... married 1852 in Marshall Co, MS). These posts indicate that James married a Martha Jefferson (Goode) Ballard (which seems to support the contention that Martha had a previous marriage to a Ballard). They mention a son of Samuel M. Cocke (1896 MS) who married a Lille Barkheimer in 1928 in Ouachita Co, AR. These same files mention that James and Martha travelled from Tate Co, MS to Pike Co, AR, then to Ouachita Co, AR and finally to McCurtain Co, OK. Using that information, I searched census reports and found the following: 1920 census for Ouachita Co, AR has James (incorrectly marked as John) and his family. Cocke, John A. 62 MS NC/SC Martha (wife) 61 MS NC/GA Eula (dau) 24 AR Samuel (son) 23 AR Johnie (son) 21 AR Willie (son) 19 AR Also ... a hard to read grandson, possibly Harvey or Henry, is listed and has a age of possible 1 8/12. Also, while I was in the census area of my files, I looked up a bit about James R. Goode and found the following: 1920 for McCurtain Co (Kirk), OK - Goode, James L. 69 MS GA/GA Annie (wife) 68 AR AR/AR 1910 for Tunica Co, MS - Goode, James R. 59 MS AL/AL Annie P. (wife) 57 MS MS/MS Pearl (dau) 20 MS Mack D. (son) 18 MS The birthstates bounce between these and most entries for 1910~1930 census reports, as do the ages sometimes, but I think this helps track their movement as well. If you could more specific on the death dates for either James Alexander Cocke, Martha Jefferson Ballard Cocke (nee Goode), or so on ... maybe I can dig up more. Good luck!
